60 Heads Will Roll When I Release My Latest Investigative Piece – Anas Aremeyaw Anas

Ace Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has hinted that he is going to release his most challenging undercover investigative piece in his entire career, which involves 60 people who have done great evil to the state.
Anas dropped the hint while speaking at the Third Lecture Series of the 60th Anniversary of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana on the theme; “Vandalism and Democracy”.

He revealed that the 60 individuals yet to be exposed have done nothing good for Ghana and he is going to name, shame and jail them as his investigative works have always preached.

“And now about the most challenging work that I’ve done, as I speak to you now I’ve some 60 people and I’m not going to tell you what I’m going to do but it is there. It is coming and none of the 60 people have done anything good for Ghana,” he said in response to a question posed to him about the most challenging work he has ever done.

However, the man behind Tiger Eye PI did not state categorically what the 60 people have done, neither did he say when the video will come out but he said it will come out and it’s just a matter of time.

Anas is well known for his unique undercover investigations, which have exposed many corrupt public officials and caused their trials and sentencing.
His biggest work so far is the famous corruption in the judiciary piece dubbed “Ghana Under The Eyes of God”, which led to the dismissal of some High Court Judges.

Anas, an Old Vandal himself, encouraged his fellows and the Ghanaian youth to be inquisitive and probe the ills in society that do not inure to the benefit of the country.

He said he has built his brand to a level where he has now lost his real identity, to the extent that even when he reveals his true identity to people they laugh and doubt him.

“People come to you and you want to be real to them and say, I’m Anas and they tell you, how can you be Anas? It’s not true,” he uttered.
He said people have accused him of disappearing through walls, turning into a goat amongst other allegations, but he said they are all not true and he sees them as part of the challenges in his profession.

Anas urged the students to be steadfast in righting the wrongs in society.

Poly/Tech university graduates demonstrate today

A coalition of graduates belonging to the 2015/16 and 2016/17 batches of the various Polytechnics and Technical Universities across the country are expected to march across the principal streets of Accra today, Tuesday 5 September 2017.

The action is meant to register their frustration with authorities over their inability to issue them certificates despite completing their courses of studies.
The group said it has been more than a year since its members completed school and national service without certificates, a situation they believe is making it difficult for them to secure jobs or further their education.

Tuesday’s protest is expected to pile pressure on government to reconstitute all governing councils of the technical universities and polytechnics in the country.

Speaking to Class news, Convener of the coalition, Kumah Alfred Brown, said: “We picketed the Ministry of Education to let them know about the situation but still they haven’t done anything about the situation. Our polytechnics or technical universities are still operating without governing councils, and, so, it has affected us a lot. We cannot apply for jobs because we don’t have certificates, we cannot upgrade by going to school again to do other courses because our transcripts have not been certified to be accepted by whatever institution we apply to, and, so, these are our grievances and so everything is set for the demonstration today.”

Polytechnic/ technical university students can’t apply for jobs, set to protest

Thousands of polytechnic and technical university students across the country are unable to apply for jobs as they have been denied academic certificates.
Though the students have completed their three-year HND courses and served their national service, the polytechnics and the technical universities have not graduated them.

The students say they have not been graduated because government has failed to constitute the governing councils for the polytechnics and the technical universities.

The previous councils appointed by the John Mahama-led government were automatically dissolved on January 7 this year when his administration ended.
According to the students who form the 2015/2016 academic year batch, the situation is not only affecting their employment status but also impeding their efforts to further their education.
“It has been more than a year we completed school without certificates to seek for jobs or even further our education due to government’s refusal or inability to constitute the governing councils of our various institutions,” they said in a statement.

Protest march

The students have taken steps, including a planned demonstration on Tuesday, to push the government to act swiftly in resolving the issue.

The students say they will converge at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra on September 5, to march through some streets of the capital city to “register our disappointment in the government”.
According to them, all the necessary police approvals for the demonstration.
“We all know how much opportunities we have missed as a result of the situation. Come and let’s fight together for our certificates,” the statement urged all affected students.

DYMOG support

Meanwhile the Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana (DYMOG) has in condemning the situation has backed the students in their resolve to demonstrate.
“It is highly unthinkable that in a dispensation where youth unemployment is skyrocketing, it is enormously shocking that, Government is propounding the canker that is fast depleting the hope of the Ghanaian Youth,” it said in a statement.

The group observed that there exist currently a vast majority of graduates with certificates who are unemployed and their situation worsened by the current economic hardship.
According to the group, the economic conditions in the country are not conducive enough in supporting start-ups while existing businesses are struggling to survive.
It said if the government is unable to create jobs for the unemployed, the least it can do is “to give these graduates their certificates so they can look for jobs on their own”.
